里昂和馬蒂爾達，這對親密的愛人，一個是職業殺手，一個是因為職業殺手而被世界遺棄的孤兒，他們就這樣依偎在一起，生活著，里昂像個小孩子一樣，他說的對，他是那種年齡大了，但是仍然需要成熟的人，不懂看字寫字，不懂得表達自己的感情，一直以來他最好的朋友就是那株永遠不會打攪他的植物，一直以來喜歡在電影院裡看著電影傻傻的笑，一直以來最喜愛喝的是牛奶，一直以來總是那樣缺乏安全感，噢，那大概是所有的職業殺手都會有的習慣——總是睜著一隻眼睛睡覺，而且是坐在椅子上，旁邊放著最讓人有安全感的冰冷的槍。但是從他給馬蒂爾達開門那一天開始，他的生命就改寫了。他再不是一個人，生命里多了一個讓他關心的人，儘管他從來不表現出來，那天趁著馬蒂爾達熟睡的時候他完全可以開槍打死她，但是他沒有，因為他本不是冰冷的。馬蒂爾達充滿怒火的眼睛看著他時，說要用為他打理生活來換取殺人的知識，他就覺得這個女孩真像那個當初的自己，當初那個心中惟有報仇兩個字的自己。

       馬蒂爾達，她有著與她年齡很不相稱的成熟，那大概是用她親愛的四歲弟弟的鮮血換來的，她總是勇敢的，勇敢地跟著里昂，勇敢地穿過那條充滿血腥氣味的走廊，勇敢地去打聽仇人的背景，勇敢地愛上這個涼麵殺手。有時候愛人是個很奇怪的定義，他可以是純粹的lover,有時候可以是你的父母，有時候可以是你的玩伴，可以是你的兄妹，有時候甚至可以是你的孩子，這些東西之間都沒有確切的定義，也難怪馬蒂爾達會愛上這個照顧她，她又需要照顧的人，愛情本來就沒有任何理由，甚至逃脫了年齡的束縛。

      他們都是太孤單的人，所以可以緊緊相依，一起取暖，真希望電影就停留在馬蒂爾達把里昂拉上床，為他蓋上被子，然後拉開他的一隻手臂讓他抱著自己睡著的那一刻。如果馬蒂爾達願意放棄她的仇恨，不知道這對戀人會不會就這樣一直生活下去呢？但是，沒有如果，那天里昂決定了要去為她報仇，他本該懂得結局的，但是他不介意，他就算耗盡了最後一絲氣息，他也要為他親愛的馬蒂爾達做點什麼，他也做到了。馬蒂爾達總會對他說 i love you,但是他就是這樣害羞的人，他對這句話很驚恐，大概是當初給的傷痕太深了，他是愛她的，他知道，卻不敢說出來，應該是不善於表達吧，然而就在他要把馬蒂爾達送出去的時候，看著淚流滿面的愛人，他終於說出這句他欠了很久的話，大概是最能安慰馬蒂爾達的這句話，無論是出自一顆父親的心或是一顆愛人的心，卻成了他們之間永遠停留的記憶。

　　影片的最後，馬蒂爾達把那株里昂最好的朋友種在學校前面的草地上，它要生根發芽了。
