Todd, live the life for Neil


There were two promising boys, Todd and Neil. They were of the same age, lived in the same room, met the same teacher, had the same passion, but different backgrounds and different personalities made them choose different ways to express their meanings of life.Neil chose to kill himself, but Todd chose to take the lead to「stand on the table」. The ending was surprising but profound: Although Neil was dead, he left his courage to Todd. Neil wasn't dead, in the sense, Todd lived the life for him!

 

Todd was a shame, timid boy at the beginning of the movie. His brother was so excellent that he could never walk out his brother's shadow.

 

He wanted to be himself, but he didn't dare to.He wrote down "seize the day" in his notebook, but quickly rip it out and went back to his homework.

 

He had marvelous inner talent but he had difficulties in showing it to the public. From the outside, he was as calm as a peaceful lake, but inside his heart, he is as hot as magma.

 

Before he met Mr. Keating, Todd knew nothing about himself. But Mr. Keating changed his life, he helped him to compose his own poem, he helped him to take up his courage to read it out to the whole class, he helped him to find the "true Todd" deep inside his heart.

 

I still can remember the profound ending of the film: Todd stood up firstly on the desk. Then more and more people followed him. They just looked like some huge mountains, not only showed their respect to Mr. Keating but also showed their discontent to the whole education system.

 

Neil was dead, but so did the shame Todd. When Todd took up the courage that Neil passed to him to stood on the table firstly, Todd became a "Neil" !
