Dead Poets Society

Before I watched this movie, I have watched . I think these two movies share something in common. The former was filmed in 1989. The later one was filmed in 2004. There are a group of young men, full of energy and passion towards life and their major.
I think both the two movies have some artificial things. It seems that they are arousing the audience’s enthusiasm or fervor. I don』t like it. What I like is something that can be expressed naturally, not on purpose. The passion of the teacher named John Keating is so artificial. The thought he is trying to deliver is ok. But the way he teaches his students is too extremely. Like he asks his students to stand up on the platform and look at things in a different way. Is it necessary? I don』t think so. He is trying to impress his students? Yes, anyway, I don』t like him. Then it comes to the students. The story of dead poets society is so amazing in their eyes, but it seems to me, it is just a place. They can express their love to poems and their passion in lot places. There is no need for them to go to that hole in the dark evening. It costs both time and takes risks of being discovered by the teachers. And also in the end, the student called Nile killed himself for he can no longer continue his dream of poems and acting. It is very ridiculous. Just because his farther wants him to quit form the school and become a doctor. No, his doing is totally wrong. It can not change anything except taking away his own life. At least, he can do something to persuade his farther to let him go on with his dreams. But he is so stupid. The film is trying to deliver us a belief that is fighting for your dreams and never give up easily. But it is delivered in a wrong way. It is a bad movie. I don』t know why it wins so many awards….
