************這篇影評可能有雷************
I wept five times while watching this film: first, when she knew about her pregnancy; second, when she told her parents about her pregnancy and were being so supportive; third, when her boyfriend said something that hurt; forth, when she asked her father if it's possible for two people to stay happy together forever, fifith, when she & her boyfriend were playing guitar & singing together. I should say, it is a film not only full of humour, sarcastically cool dialogues, inspiring story, but also very touching to me which is out of my expectation.
"Juno" as if Jason Reitman's previous film "thank you for smoking" shares the similar theme, which is to give you another view of this world and embrace individualism. As we used to be framed in a boundary using a way of thinking frequently influenced by all those social norms and so-called "political correctness", we slowly lose our own independent thoughts. The world is indeed not what it seems to be or as we assumed to be. Life is just a matter of choices made by everyone, what matter is each one has their own thinking, they will be responsible for what they have done, so, you don't have to bother. This film also makes me think of Nietzsche's thinking.
Reitman's films expose you to an opposite dimension and think critically, while last time, on smoking issue and this time, on teenage pregnancy problem. Is an umarried pregnant teenage girl necessarily someone bad? Before you blame on her, she has already suffered enough, but have you ever got to know about it? It was the first scene I cried about it. Things happened, it is no use anymore to just blame her, why not face it and find a solution? Her parents tried to figure out plan how to settle with her and look after her in a good way, second scene I cried. She was angry about her boyfriend going to prom with another girl, she threw tantrum and quarrelled with him, she was hurt and went away, third scene I cried. Forthly, when Juno asked her father if people ever stayed together for good and if it's possible for two people to stay happy together forever, I did ask the same questions when I was already 24, of course I knew there was true love, but sometimes when things happened, you are just confused, you need people to tell you confidently, I cried. At last, when they were both playing guitar and singing together, it was just so so so sweet, I couldn't stop crying. Besides, 愛倫 Page definitely got a pair of eyes full of tenderness, how can you not be touched?
Juno learnt to love herself and love the people she love, you are what you are, no matter people think you are not cool, you are weird or even a freak, you don't have to give a damn about it, just be yourself. People who truly love you would love you just the way you are. Juno, yeah, love always rules!
It seems more and more films portraying weirdo as the leading roles while I recall, in the past, every leading role must be good looking, kind-hearted and act adorably and decently. Now, you just have more choices, frankly, I quite like this kind of films, e.g. "ghost world" & "napoleon dynamite"... are quite impressive to me. Who can be totally cool in one's life and never did anything weird? We are all weird in some way, just you won't show it. So, why can't you accept someone who is just different? But of course, I don't wanna see tons of films portaying weirdo to be someone cool, then, it loses the uniqueness and significance.
The film cites some artistis like Sonic Youth, Iggy Pop, Patti 史密斯... also plays songs of Belle & Sebastien, Antonio Carlos Jobim, The Velvet Underground, The Kinks etc., when Juno & Mark, the adopter's husband were talking about music & films just makes me so excited.
