The Constant Gardener

The Constant Gardener」 tells the story about drug companies who test their products on the poor of third world. As they pour AIDS drugs into Africa, are they masking the testing of other drugs? 「No drug company does something for nothing,」 Le Carre has a character observe. I think the drug company is willing to accept the deaths that may occur. Because, after all, those people who lived in Africa don』t count. Why not? No one is there to count them.
　　Like Hotel Rwanda, another film about atrocities in modern-day Africa, the constant Garden id a movie with something to say, and speaks its message loudly and with eloquence. The only question is: how many people will hear it?
　　Unlike China and India, which received so much concerns form around the world everyday, many poor countries in Africa has been neglected by us. They don』t have tremendous economic growth, but can some countries defiance human right and do whatever they wish in there? No!
　　We are benefiting form the civilization which created by our ancestors. But when comes to money and lust, we all become crazy.
　　The Constant Garden tells this story in the fragmented style. It is anything other than a 「message movie.」 The most powerful aspect of the movie is what it has to say about the way medicines are tested in Africa without the consideration of negative side effect. Through it we can glimpse cruel outlines beneath the public relations façade and its cynical attitude toward the pharmaceutical company. I think it is a good way of writing and tell story, especially in china, where the media are half control by the government.
　　I feared when I saw Tessa died because of her report on the drug company’s inhumane in Africa. I』m not sure whether the same thing will happen on me or not, but I will insist my dream: CHINA VOICE GLOBEN VEIW forever.
