This is another unbelievable reunion with Leon. The whole afternoon, alone in my dorm room, I wrapped myself up, seeing the movie which I』ve watched over and over again.

Again I see him seriously take care of the potted plant, which was his best and only friend; again I see her smoke in the corridor and start a conversation with him; again I see him open the door for her at the very moment, letting her enter his life and change it; and again I see coldness, rage and desperation in their eyes, throughout life.
 
They were so much alike each other. To them, life had been hard, helpless, and fraught with hostility as well as hazard. They barely felt warm or cared. They had lost their beloved ones. That may be why, when Mathilda asked Leon,「is life always this hard or only when you are a kid,」 Leon answered，「always like this.」

Admittedly, life could be frustrating sometimes, but deep down the innermost of one’s heart, lays the strongest desire for love, which can defeat anything that prevents us from being hopeful.

Hence, again I see him spill milk when hearing her say she loved him; again I see her wake him up from a world where love had slept for really long; again I see him secretly collect every trivial happiness that she brought into his life; again I see two people gradually began to rely on each other till nothing is able to split them up; and again I see sacrifice as well as everlasting heartaches…and again, I see true love.

Yes, true love, no matter how much older Leon was than Mathilda. In fact, it’s amazing when we realize if two people are in love, nothing could stand in the way; either age, or death.

「You are not gonna lose me, I promise. You』ve given me the best of life. I wanna be happy, sleep in bed, and have roots. You』ll never be alone again, I love you.」 I cannot help but once more bursting into tears when seeing him hold her tightly, saying those last words which had been hard for him to speak out before; and soon after that, he died for her.

He chose death for the reason of love, of something that no one can resist.

The film Leon, filled with gunshots and violence, leaves me the feeling of attaining though Mathilda lost Leon at last, of warmth though revenge is as cold as the bullets, of complete security though love is dangerous.
