Review: Finding Nemo

First as a task, in order to write a review, I watched Finding Nemo. But actually, after started I found that appreciating such a good movie was not a hard task and I didn't treat it as homework. And I had the desire to write something. OK, preface here is over.

1 Introduction

Can you imagine that a coward clown fish living in anemones swam through miles to Sydney to find his son? Do you think of that a little fish with deformed fin would fight against human for his freedom? Will you believe a shark's saying: "Fish are friends, not food."? The answers are in Finding Nemo.

2 Plot Summary

Marlin is a clown fish living in the Great Barrier Reef. As he loses his wife and almost all the children, he becomes very terribly suspicious. Lost nerves, he pays great attention to security of the only son Nemo after the attack. While one day Nemo is caught by a scuba diver and taken to a dentist clinic in Sydney. In order to get his son back, the timid father together with his new friend a blue tang fish named Dory starts their long adventure. With many animals' help, they return to ocean safely.

3 Elements

3.1 Disney Story

It's a standard Disney story about adventure and growth, certainly about love, courage and freedom.

The journey of finding Nemo is a real adventure for fish. Marlin and Dory finish the adventure via joining a club with sharks, dodging jellyfish and hooking a ride with turtles. Slowly, a timid clown fish become brave; on the other side, Nemo in Sydney learns to be brave and fights with human wisely. The father and son's growth is in the whole movie.

Love between father and son, friends is also a shining point in the film. The director is good at make us feel warm through some common scene.

"Keep swimming" is the way of fish to show courage. Dory makes herself as an example to teach Marlin to defeat indecisiveness. Even thought tiny, she never fears the strong creature.

And freedom is very important clue. We should not rudely deprive others of freedom. Parents should not deprive children of freedom for fear that they would get hurt. You can't never let anything happen to them, otherwise, nothing would ever happen to them. And human should not deprive animal of freedom. We are all creature. The fish in dentist clinic are still trying to escape, because bird is to fly in sky and fish is to swim in sea.

3.2 Environment Concerning

It is also a movie concern about the relationship between human and nature. Lines in the movie show that. The words "Fish are friends, not food." from the sharp actually is said to human. Also from a sharp's mouth is that "Humans think they own everything." Words like those are not so much, but the whole movie is about the animal fighting against human.

3.3 3D Technology

The 3D technology helps to make this conventional story vivid. Many people agree that the story is not so attracting, for we have seen the similar version many times (Little Tadpoles Looking for Mummy). While with the help of 3D technology, we are immersed in the colorful underwater world. The flower-like anemones, the huge turtle herd, the countless pink jellyfish and so on give us a wonderful visual entertainment.

4 Comments

Kids can enjoy colors and story. Boys admire the adventure. Girls amaze the wonderful scene and lovely animal. Adults may have some new idea on educating children. Environmentalists still can take chance to raise people's awareness of protecting nature.

Entertaining and educating people, Finding Nemo is a good movie that combined many elements that everyone can find his or her interest.
