You will get what you need but not what you want

************這篇影評可能有雷************

There are many reasons I love Woody Allen's movies, but the most important one is his honesty. He never try to cover the dark side of human beings. This movie is about "Greed".

We want so much from life:

Alfie want to be young again, his wife want to have a new start after Alfie dumped her after 40 years together.

Sally can not help falling in love with her wealthy and attractive boss, her husband Roy can not help looking at younger girls.

it's a very good contrast Woody put together in the movie to exam what we really want in life.

When we are young, money is the most important thing. When he flashed back how Sally and Roy met, it's very obvious that Roy had the charm and humor to attract Sally. But that might only good for dating. In real life, man's wealth is like the beautiful tail of a peacock. Sally's boss is demanding but she enjoys working with the successful man. The ironic part about her marriage is that she got really angry not because of Roy but because of her boss. The timing of her decision has nothing to do with Roy's failure, it's when her boss made his decision to break up with his wife. And, he did not choose to be with her. The balance broke in a funny way. For Roy, he need Sally to support him financially but still want something else. You see, we said we want love, but actually we want money and beauty. It's an endless game and we will never be satisfied. When Roy looked back from Dia's window and see Sally again, isn't she he really want?

Then if you have money, what's the biggest fear? Death or just purely getting old? Alfie tried so hard to stop the clock. He offered money to buy youth. Then he found out, he can only buy the skin or body of youth. The young hot chick only wants money not him! She need the money, he need the company, fair game. They screwed by confusing "Need" vs "Want".

Then what about Dia, the young, lovely girl Roy had been peeking at and flirting with? What she will get from Roy? What makes Roy better than her young, handsome and wealthy fiance? Nothing, but just someone new and fresh.

We get bored so easily of what we have and if there is a slightest chance we can get something new, we will do it! It's not for better when we try to change. In this movie, nobody changed for better, but the temptation of change itself is enough, because you will meet "a tall dark stranger!" We called it 'Hope".

By looking at Dia, you know this movie is NOT about love, marriage, money, talent or even faith. It's about our endless greed and how the greed makes us so stupid. Further, the meaninglessness of our life that trying to cope with our stupidity.

Life is just like Shakespeare said:
A tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.
