Girls!To be a man!

************這篇影評可能有雷************

I got very complex feeling while watching this movie. I was confused by the relation between the father and her 2 daughters, angry upon the way how man treated woman, pitiful for the separation of two sisters, and finally touched by the ending.

Celie
The major role of the movie. Ugly,black,timid...It seems that all kinds of pitiful adjectives could work on her. Whether from Celie's view or my view, the strongest feeling is that in the both white people and man dominated society, black woman seems to be a family's servant, or even inferior than a servant.Raped by her step father, separated from her kids and sister, married a beast-like man. I believe no one can exactly tell how hurt she was during the years when she lived with her so-called husband, and without a soul accompany, without anyone's love and care. Meanwhile, she had to face the family which was just a jail for her, not only physically but also mentally. I can hardly imagine how lonely that could be .The worst thing is living in a place where you have no wish to live and accompanying with those who you hate. But what can Celie do ? What can a black woman do under the man-dominated condition. What's worse is that she even took this for granted. That's the point why black woman can't reach the liberation. Thankfully, all pains have endings. When I saw Celie and her sister finally get together , tears falling unconsciouslly. All sad memories can be overcame. It's not about how much you can forgive, or even forget. It's how much you can bear, how much you can fight for ,how much delightful you can see right from the endless darkness.

Sophia
Sophia is an exception in the tipical society. She is brave, she is intelligent, she is diligent and deeply in love with Harpo. Although so , she still cant escape the evil clams of the terriable tradition. As you can see in the movie, she said to Celie: All my life I had to fight. I had to fight my Daddy. I had to fight my uncles. I had to fight my brothers. Girl kid isnt safe in family where men are. But I never I thought I had to fight in my own house. In the clear contrast to Celie, Sophia chose to leave rather than endure. Then you might be convinced that Sophia is gonna be a bright image to show exactly the contrast against Celie and get to the free land ,despatch the prison of man-dominated reality. However, as the story can tell, you can disappointedly find out that would even hardly happen in fantacy, because except man, black woman still have to face the whole society which is exactly dominated by white people.
When Sophia was surrounded by a group of strong white man after refusing to be Mrs Mayor's servant, it's obvious that how little a black woman could do and how helpless when she was alone in the society. After years tormented and prison life, Sophia became a woman without enthusiasm and even old. A deep comparison between the former image and the current one.The tragedy was Sophia still cant get rid of Mrs Mayor's control, who came to Sophia as a Savior, which actually mercilessly separated Sophia from her family again. Still, as evil as the whole world is , no matter how strong and brave inside a black woman is ,it's just not enough to face the reality that black woman's social status is almost none.

Since the sex discrimination still exists in today's society. I strongly believe that we girls should not take this for granted, otherwise, nothing s gonna bring woman's status upwords. And in this gender disordered world ,Girls! To be a Man!
