O, Captain, My Captain

四星半。

一些瑣碎。


最早知道片子已經是大學時候了。英語課老師推薦電影，提到了這部。那時候還是什麼都不懂的20歲，本就顯得如同莎士比亞般嚴肅晦澀的片名裡面還嵌著一個「詩」字，提不起去看的興緻。加上當時對老師的厭惡（現在會覺得很無知和抱歉），就拋諸腦後了。

直到後來在部落格上看到了引用的其中的一句話，"We don't read and write poetry because it's cute. We read and write poetry because we are members of the human race. And the human race is filled with passion. Medicine, law, business, engineering, these are noble pursuits and necessary to sustain life. But poetry, beauty, romance, love...these are what we stay alive for. "
然後想起了它，然後找出來看，然後相見恨晚。

站上講台，持續不斷的提醒自己要從不同的角度看待事物。"Just when you think you know something, you have to look at it in another way. Even though it may seem silly or wrong, you must try."
梭羅說，"Most men lead lives of quiet desperation. " Don't be resigned to that. Break out!

Radio Free America. Meeks和Pitts的舞，散發著最美的自由光輝。

"Can't I even enjoy the idea for a little while?"
為Neil得到角色後的喜悅而喜悅。

園子裡的Walking。
"Now we all have a great need for acceptance. But you must trust that your beliefs are unique, your own. Even though others may think them odd or unpopular."

Knox說，"nothing, but I did it"。

之所以只有四星半，是不喜歡最後Neil的死。就像Friends第一季里Monana對Monica說的，為什麼要選擇自殺呢？若是喜歡錶演便去表演，大聲的吼出自己的真實想法，像父親YAWP，離開學校離開家去追逐自己想要的，為什麼要自殺呢？
我可以理解每個人有每個人的難處，有心裡難以逾越的鴻溝。我只是不喜歡看到一個人剛剛在自己開拓的路上邁出了一步便離開了。
當然，這就是現實。

Charlie是片子裡我最喜歡的角色，他是天生的自由，太美。給Cameron的那一拳讓我抑制不住的大呼Yes！

當Todd勇敢的站上課桌，喊出O, Captain, My Captain，熱淚盈眶。


最後，to quote Henry David Thoreau:
