Dead Poets Society

************這篇影評可能有雷************

A tragic film Dead Poets Society, ranked a high score of 8.8 on Douban, end up not only with melancholy but also great
inspiration, which leaves us thinking. The story took place between a group of students and an unconventional mentor in a
school, renowned for it's rigorous disciplines.Teacher Keating ,who teaches poetry with a life-changing influence, ignores conventional teaching procedures and offers his unique ways to inspire students of free-thinking and creativity. His teaching such as tearing chapters of the textbooks in order to break the prototype and asking his students to stand on their desks to see the world from a new angle ,which has a profound effect on his students, Todd, who used to be a coward, finally becomes a brave man to speak out his own idea; Knox, who started an unrequited love ,finally gained a chance to prove his affection; Neil, who dreams of being an actor and showed a billion talent through his play;Richard;Charlie etc.Keating once set up a club called'dead poetry society'which is abandoned now.The students risk getting expelled, restart this club in a cave. They seize their splendid adolescent and live their live boldly.
Their club, however, was exposed to school,so they are challenged of integrity.Meanwhile,Todd begged a chance to play a drama from his father, who is extremely vigorous, always arranging Todd's life without considering his feeling.Being arranged to military school after his wonderful play,Todd committed suicide at a desperate snowy night, which shocked the whole school. The school decided to find up who to be blame.Hilariously, the fault is attribute to Keating, their beloved teacher.Parts of the students stand on the table to support their teacher, which bring us a sentimental comforting result.
It's the passionate life they live delight me and the gallantry they foster gradually impress me .The will to knowledge, the pure puppy love ,the pursuit for dreams, the gains and loses of different choices…etc. those themes which coincide with our adolescent, are also resonate to my experience. Under the pressure whatever school work, confused future or self-motivation,we as teenagers, whose ideas adults regard as unrealistic, are somewhat oppressed by current education systems which kills our creativity.
In our modern society dominated by the emphasis on utility,we abound in producing an increasing number of undergraduates and engineers of science, whereas lack creative people and sociology study. In our highschool study likewise,we are not encouraged to make different ,just like the products from the string-line.Its impossible that we would have a teacher like Keating ,with his abnormal teaching methods enlighten us to deliberate ourself and the philosophy of life.
『Medicine, law, business, engineering, these are noble pursuits and necessary to sustain life. But poetry, beauty, romance, love, these are what we stay alive for.』Only in free mind can men be truly free,no matter how nasty the reality is ,no matter how indifferent the human are,we can still be unfettered in our spiritual world.

'To the Virgins to Make Much of Time
Gather ye rosebuds while ye may.'
That life exists and identity. Life is both filled with passion and pain,so cherish your splendid exclusive time.
'Seize the day, boys.Make your lives extraordinary.'Do not wait until it was too late to make your dream fulfill.

Here are the most impressive poetries from the movie which I treasure them greatly.
It's a ritual for the'dead poetry society'club to begin with'I want to live deep and suck out all the marrow of life.'It’s from Henry David Thoreau:Walden,or Life in the Woods,a book that I used to feel bored. It's assure that I would reread it since the paragraph below.
'I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately, to front only the essential facts of life, and see if I could not learn what it had to teach, and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived. I did not wish to live what was not life, living is so dear; nor did I wish to practise resignation, unless it was quite necessary. I wanted to live deep and suck out all the marrow of life'

THE ROAD NOT TAKEN
Two roads diverged in a yellow wood, and I—
I took the less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

She Walks In Beauty 她在美中步履姍姍 ----------- George Gorden Byron

I Sound My Barbaric YAWP Over the Rooftops of the World!-----------Walt Whitman

'I stand upon my desk to remind myself that we must constantly look at things in a different way. Just when you think you know something, you have to look at it in another way. Even though it may seem silly or wrong. When you read, don't just consider what the author thinks, consider what you think. '
