越看越有味
(其實英文很爛,只是應老師作業要求寫了一篇影評,掛出來鼓勵一下自己。)
I think it is irony to the Hollywood which only care about money or box office instead of art or some real things that could move and inspire people.
There is no doubt that the movie's structure is so complex that you have to sacrifice many brain cells to understand it. The most confusing part is that there is three scriptwriters named Kaufman including the real movie's screenwriter. In the movie, a scriptwriter named Kaufman(1) wrote a story. There are two clues in the story. One is about scriptwriter Kaufman(2) and his brother, their conflict about writing theory, their help to each other and their unity in the end. The other clue is Suasan and Laroche . Finally, these two clues merged into one ending with a Hollywood's typical style which abounds in sex, drugs, car chases, and murders and so on. That maybe means Kaufman(1) compromised with Hollywood's living principles in the end.
From the aspect of the movie's content, I love the pure story in the fist part of the movie. Maybe it seems that there is no too many plots in the fist part, but the Laroche's words and Susan's feelings are so inspiring and touching your heart. For example, Suasan said: "I wanna know what it feels like to care about something passionately. " I think I can understand her because I always having the same feeling. Every time I see some boys playing basketball on the playground in the evening, I admire and even envy them. I really want to know the feeling when you are dedicating yourself to something or someone regardless other things in the world. I know that the key is passion, the passion to life. So it was very powerful and it is intoxicating to be around someone so alive.
I think even though the ghost orchid is fantastic and out of reach, it is still worth pursuing because you could arouse your fire and find your existence in such a huge world in the process.
Besides, the movie's name has two layers of meaning in my opinion. The fist layer of meaning is that the novel's adaptation to the movie. The second is that the scriptwriter's adaptation to the principles of survival in Hollywood. In other words, maybe adaptation means adaptation to some degree.
