Four weddings and a funeral【in English】
Marriage seems to be a must in one's life.
If you are not married after 30 years old, you'll possibly be mocked at more or less.
Marriage is a kind of burden which needs courage and determination.
The film told me that if you marry the person you have affections for, you will be more than delighted.
But what if you marry a person you don't love, what if you marry just for a marriage?
On contrary to a bachelor's life, there do exist some advantages of a marriage , sharing the house loan, avoiding the invasion of loneliness for instance.
Living with another one is more convenient than living alone to some extent.
If you are promised to a sugar daddy or a dragon woman, there are even more advantages , for you will be confronted with less pressure than your peers.
When your friends are busy running about their lives , you are possibly driving a luxurious car , thinking about how to decorate your apartment to make it cater to your high-class tastes.
That's too realistic.
In terms of affections, marriage should be the thermos of love.
Just as those married in the film ,marriage is a pledge for the quality of your life and also your happiness.
A person's life span is too short to be wasted.
That's the treasure that the moustached man who dies from heart attack left us.
So Charles is engaged with that duck-face woman who is a little bit mentally disorder and is deeply obsessed with him.
There are many jokes with typical British accent.
What impressed me most was his fiancee's letter to his friends in which she said something like don't come near to my house or I'll let my dogs bite you.
Would you like to marry a woman like that?
Charles does because the fair lady he was obsessed with had married a true noble and he is desperate for a wedding.
Although the duck-face woman isn't appreciated by the audience, still we feel it unfair to her if she marries Charles ,for it is going to be a trap for her.
A man who doesn't have something for her marries her for a marriage——the man needs a counterpart to make meals everyday, to witness his life orbit ,to meet his different kinds of demands.
But deep down in his heart buries another lady that attacts him really and truly.
She 's innocent but forced to accept the fact that she is pathetic.
Yet, to those who are deeply attached to each other, marriage is more likely a method of lengthening happiness.
Just as a brilliant and wise addressing from the moustached man goes "I』ve got a new theory about marriage. Two people are in love, they live together. And one day they run out of conversation. Totally, they can』t think of a single thing to say to each other. That’s it. Panic. Then suddenly, it occurs to the chap. That there is a way out of the deadlock. He』ll ask her to marry him. They』ve got something to talk about for the rest of their lives."
But for those who are not that attached, marriage is more like a trade, an exchange of interests.
It's not written on the card that they must be a match.
This is a comedy for sure and is said to be a model for successful movie with a comparatively small cost.
The ending of the story fascinates me.
The wedding ceremony is about to be held and the fair lady Carrie finally made her appearance, telling Charles she doesn't get along with her husband well and are temporarily separated from each other.
Having struggled several times, Charles makes up his mind to forsake his fiancee and eventually runs into a relationship with Carrie after 4 weddings and a funeral.
May all lovers in the world finally be united with wedlock.
But ironically not everyone can be that fortunate.
If you are not flipped then find the right person that can make you flipped.
Or you are destroying both of you.
If you think you don't match the person right beside you, spill that.
Life shouldn't be an exchange of loneliness and lust.
Don't let the prespective of "let it be" insult the meaning of marriage.
And this article ends with a poem by an American author W.H Auden:
Funeral Blues
Stop all the clocks,cut off the telephone,
Prevent the dog from barking with a juicy bone,
Silence the pianos and with muffled drum,
Bring out the coffin,let the mourners come.
Let aeroplanes circle moaning overhead,
Scribbling on the sky the message He Is Dead,
Put crepe bows round the white necks of the public
doves,
Let the traffic policemen wear black cotton gloves.
He was my North,my South,my East and West,
My working week and my Sunday rest,
My noon,my midnight,mu talk,my song;
I thought that love would last forever:I was wrong.
The stars are not wanted now;put out every one;
Pack up the moon and dismantle the sun;
Pour away the ocean and sweep up the wood;
For nothing now can ever come to any good.
