Jim Jarmusch曾在某個訪談中提到——Your life is an accumulation of a lot of things that are sad and stupid and funny and cruel and ugly and beautiful," "I try to make stories that don't differentiate and focus only on the most dramatic moments of your life, because even the really little stupid things may be equally valuable and important."
所以這十一個短篇，僅僅是隨意地捕捉一些日常中圍繞著咖啡和香菸的場景、對話。乍看下很無聊很日常——沒鋪墊，沒轉折，更加沒高潮，仔細品品卻有很多值得玩味的東西。
第一個故事裡，Roberto一看就是飲咖啡過量的顫抖；史蒂夫n說在睡覺之前喝咖啡會dream faster，還有把咖啡倒進Icecube tray里製成咖啡冰棍給孩子們在第十個故事中也被戒了咖啡的GZA提到。
第二個故事裡，侍者說的貓王的那個Rumors；雙胞胎的統一又不同之處。
第三個故事裡，The beauty of quitting is that I can have one or even more than one.——無比真實。Tom炫耀的The combination of Music and Medicine在第十個故事裡RZA也同樣炫耀了。
第四個故事裡，迷戀香菸卻被老友像老婆一樣叨念的Grandpa看著孫子買回的零食，問，Chinese Peas?那沉默的小孩將自己的眼角一撩，Grandpa立刻說Chinese, Japanese, Same thing.
第五個故事裡，女人專注看的是一本摩托槍械雜誌。
第六個故事裡，Best Friends居然無話可說，除非出了事。
第八個故事裡，Jack說Tesla perceived Earth as a conductor of acoustical resonance，第十一個故事裡的老頭泰勒也說起過。
第十一個故事裡，老頭泰勒問，How long is our break, anyway?老頭Bill回答說，About 10 minutes, and it's nearly over now. 泰勒說，Say it isn't true.然後就安然地睡去了。這讓我想起Jim Jarmusch的第一部長篇Permanent Vacation里提出的人生是一個慢慢長假的概念。這裡，老頭泰勒的假期就要結束，他留戀不捨卻也無可奈何。
此外還有諸如，被反覆提到的Coffee and Cigarette for lunch is not healthy，不斷叫錯的名字，黑白棋盤桌布（或桌面），不同人加糖的方式等此類有趣細節。但最凸顯的還是貫穿這十一個故事的尷尬氣氛，人與人無法溝通的不適感。
