All About Theatre

1.我最大的point在我覺得這片的重點（這倒是偏我的個人想法罷了 畢竟我也不想猜忌導演或是任何其他參與製作電影的人的初衷，那樣是很不尊重的）or rather這片為什麼受到這麼多電影協會等等的重視（超過了普通觀眾的喜好，和肖申克那樣的片相反）是因為它討論了theatre——不僅僅是討論其實，簡直台詞的字裡行間都洋溢著那些只有懂theatre懂performance的人才懂的那些元素：比方說acting和make-believe；演員、編劇與導演各在一場劇（或說任意一個performance吧，甚至一部電影，雖然這片了倒是沒有提及）里起的作用——我想到了ESem課上看的Bill T 瓊斯的那個記錄片，它如何顛覆了我對」舞者「、」表演者「的看法，不再只是」a body with a voice, no mind「，被導演當作工具來表達他想表達的什麼東西，而是因為那個Jewish girl有她自己的故事，而在她自己的肢體表達下顯得最為生動，並與Bill想表達的結合在一起而形成一種最為神妙的combo；以及那些微妙（or not）地refer to theatre term的小細節。

2.Woman這個點其實到了偏後一點才pop up，而且其實speaking of women這和我的第三個point已經有很大關聯了not trying to be a sexist。Woman是一個很有趣且永遠不會過時的話題。多麼有趣又多麼老套不出意外。Both this topic and women themselves I mean. Bill不能理解為什麼Margo就因為Eve變得那麼暴躁那麼possessive那麼」psychotic「（as he calls her, obviously)，Margo不是解釋而是說，it's obvious you're not a woman. 還有Margo在車裡和Karen說的那一大番關於women的話真是不能更精彩了，誠實而又帶著諷刺，因而經典——not trying to bring all the gender talk (including Butler, yes) into this but, the way Margo put it was such a nice reflection of both the construction of women themselves (well obviously more on the straight side for she did mention the role men play in a woman's career) and of social conventions.

It's funny, a woman's career. The things you drop on the way up the ladder so you can move faster. You forget you'll need them again when you get back to being a woman. That's one career all females have in common, whether we like it or not. Being a woman. Sooner or later we've got to work at it. No matter how many careers we've had or wanted. And in the last analysis, nothing is any good unless you can look up just before dinner, or turn around in bed and there he is. Without that you're not a woman.

3.功利。我真還是覺得這是個架起故事的必須，更何況這是個經典不衰的主題anyway，不如就藉此為主題set up一個巧妙的故事，雖然我insist theatre和performance這個intention是更為讚揚的，雖然不是很多人看的出來。具體的情節太過nasty就不說了，including結尾的一個new-generation 」Eve「，不過我很開心的是Margo的結尾。她可以開始過自己的生活了——說真的，是真的生活：她已經不care Cory這個Eve求著要的角色了多麼諷刺呀；她開始過一個woman的生活了。
