Suffragette

1、Ta.謝謝。

2、Maud:The thought we might. There is another way of living this life.

3、The finest eloquence is that which gets things done.最好的口才是把事情做好。

4、Mrs.Pankhurst:We're fighting for a time in which every little girl born into the world will have an equal chance with her brothers.
Never underestimate the power we women have to define our own destinies.
We do not want to be lawbreakers. We want to be lawmakers.
Be militant, each of you in your own way.
Those of you who can break windows, break them.
Those of you who can further attack the sacred idol of property,do so.
We have been left with no alternative but to defy this goverment.
I would rather be a rabel than a slave.

5、Ellyn:And god shall wipe away all their tears.
And there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying.
Neither shall there be any more pain.
For the former things are passed away.

6、Mr.Steed:You're nothing in the world.I grew up with girls like you,Maud.People who sacrificed life for revenge and a cause.I know you.

7、March on.

8、Maud:That's for today. That's for tomorrow. That's to save till I see you next.Off you go.

9、Maud:Well,I cant have that anymore.

10、Mrs.Pankhurst:If it's right for men to fight for their freedom, then it's right for women to fight for theirs.

11、Maud:If the law says I can't see my son,I will fight to change that law. We're both foot soldiers in our own way. Both fighting for our cause.

12、Edith:他們嘲笑和蔑視我們是因為他們感覺到我們的威脅。

13、Steed:You might lose your life before this is over.
Maud:And we will win.

14、Deeds Not Words.

15、Hugh:Maud,Can I drive you?
Maud:Best not.
Hugh:I『ve left you bedding at the church. The union will send you word.

16、Violet紫羅蘭:It's only bread and a bit of broth. That's all.A little at a time.Your tummy will be sore what you've been through.你絕食了這麼久你的胃會疼痛的。

17、Emily:So,tomorrow,then?
Maud:Tomorrow.

18、Maud:The woman wanderer goes forth to seek the land of freedom.
"How am I to get there?"
Reason answers,"there is one way,and one way only.Down the banks of labor, through the waters of suffering. There is no other."下去努力的海岸,穿過苦難的大海,沒有其他的路。
The woman having discarded all to which she'd formerly clung, cried out,"for what do I go to this far land which no one has ever reached?"拋棄她以前依戀的一切,哭起來。
"I am alone.I'm utterly alone."

19、Maud:We go on,Edith.
You taught me that.

20、Maud:And reason said to her,"silence.what do you hear?"
And she said,"I hear the sound of feet.A thousand times, ten thousands and thousands of thousands, and they beat this way."他們向這邊走來。
"they are the feet of those that shall follow you.Lead on.」

21、In 1918 the vote was given to certain women aged over 30.
In 1925 the law recognised a mother's right over her children.
In 1928 women achieved the same voting rights as men.

22、2015
Saudi Arabia
Women are promised voting rights.

23、dear Mr Steed

i thought about your offer
and i have to say no
you see i am a suffragette after all
you tell me no one listens to girls like me
but i can t allow that any more
all my life i havent been respectful
done what men told me
i know by now————

i worth no more no less than you
Mrs Pankhurst said
if it is right for men to fight for their freedom
then it is right for women to fight for theirs too
if the laws say that i can t see my son

i will fight to change that law
we are both soldiers in our own way
both fight for our cause
i will not betray mine
would you betray yours?
if you thought i would
you are wrong about me

you sincerely
maud watts
