A story that breaks my heart

I have a lot of things on my mind but I do not know where to start. This is not a story about the loss of childhood. This is a story about children who do not receive mother's (and father's) love and keep searching for external approval of their capabilities. These children yearn to be accepted by others because it is difficult for them to accept themselves. They are afraid to be hurt by others (to be more specific, people they love and care about) so they act rather whimsically and back off unexpectedly. Not only is Peter Pan a child (a self-chosen child) as such, Captain Hook is also like this. Hook's firm insistence on 」good form「 shows where he pitches himself and the gap between his ideal self and his actual self. He is also searching for vindications of him as a person. Interestingly, both Peter and Hook are very serious about "being a man.「 They don't want to be called cowards who break promises or waver in the face of dangers.

The movie makes several changes of the original plot, but I am particular interested in the choice made by the director in the end. I expected the lost boys to be adopted by the Darlings and grow up. I expected Peter Pan to visit Wendy (when he remembered) during spring-cleaning week. I expected Jane, Wendy's daughter, to fly with Peter when her mother was too old, and Margaret to do the same thing when Jane was too old.

I hope that every Peter Pan in the world can find the kind of acceptance they have been yearning for. I hope that they do not have to hide their pains in laughter and teasing.   舉報
