所以那些說票房慘敗的可以閉嘴了。至於還有人說什麼「票房不到預算的6倍就算虧損，」這個只能呵呵了。

在「水世界」項目開拍前，Kevin Costner和導演Kevin Reynolds本是好友，曾經成功合作了「羅賓漢：俠盜王子」（譯註：兩人的第一次合作是Reynolds的導演處女作「Fandango」）；而他們的友誼卻在「水世界」多災多難的製作過程中消耗殆盡。原本1億美元的預算，由於遭遇連續數周的颶風、往返水上場景的昂貴交通以及各種必須的後期數據化處理，最終嚴重超支到1億7千5百萬美元。
