It WILL NOT BECOME A CLASSIC, BUT THAT DOES NOT PREVENT IT FROM BEING A GOOD FIL
this review probabbly contains no spoiler or anything like it (that's because i will try to use the language as vague as possible. talk about it in a broader sense.).
i love it. the plot is somehow reminescent of so many classic - the fight between the evil and the good (attention!), the last-minute Missah, resemblance to "The Seven Samurai". you can take all that as tribute to traditional movie-making. which" the 阿提斯t", and the "La La Land" and many others have done that already. But the Magnificent Seven should not treated like it's a serious film or whatsoever. (well, it does that well that would be awesome, but by no means it (seriousness) should be a requirement.) Becasue the whole past half centery is dedicated to making this genre movie(and there are still many of them coming lol.). the blockbusters back in the days ARE Western movies, which is just like the (tons of) superhero movies that we have right now.
That said, if this isn't good, it still can be a bad commercial movie.(yes, we have different criteria for movies going for academy awards and pop corn movies ) As a big fan of Home Alone series, the doraemon movie series,i really like watching people(or person) working really together(or alone) to bring down to the bad guys. the lack of motivation is wide-spread in the commercial category, because it's really hard to spend time depicting the bad guys or the good folks, when all the audience want is (smart) fight scene.
Now the movie itself. it's special to me because it provides something i do not feel very often. Until the last 30 minutes piece of sequence happened, i still felt that it's a kid's movie. So this movie give s me feeling of childish satisfaction and weirdly(at the very end) bloody violence that's not suitable for children (checked, it's Rated PG-13) and the fact that it transitions betwen two parts kind of seamlessly?, which is a rarity for me. so you can see why i love it fairly.
