如果你想改變世界運作的方式,前進是唯一的出路

英國女權主義者爭取投票權的艱辛歷史,太經典的電影,語言已經無力,此處記錄僅記錄經典台詞。

The women wander goes forth to seek the land of freedom. " How am I to get there?" "There is one way, and one way only." Reason answers, "Through the water of suffering. Down the banks of labor. There is no other"The women , having discarded all which she'd formly clung to, cries out, " for what do I go to this far land which no one has ever reached? I am alone, I am utterly alone." And reason said to her, "Silence, what do you hear?"And She said," I hear the sound of feet.""They are feet of those that shall follow you. A thousand times, ten thousands and thousands and thousands, and they beat this way. Lead on.

If you want to change the way the world is run, the only way is forward.

"It as tough for us women as it's ever been. We've got to do whatever we can, however we can.""what? Like smashing windows? It's not respectable.""Strange what's respectable. You want me to respect the law. Then make the law respectable."

If the law says I can't see my son, I will fight to change that law.

"Violence doesn't discern! It takes the innocent and the guilty! What gives you the right to put that woman's life at risk?""What gives you the right to stand in the middle of a riot and watch women beaten and do nothing? We break windows, we burn things, cause war is the only language men listen to. The Law makes nothing. I've no say in making the law.""You might lose your life before this is over.""And we will win."

I would rather be a rebel than a slave. Never surrender. Never give up the fight.

You see, I am a suffragette after all. You tell me no one listens to girls like me. All my life, I've not been respectful, done what men told me. Well, I can't have that anymore. I worth no more, and no less than you. We're both soldiers in our own way. If it is right for men to fight for their freedom, then it's right for women to fight for theirs.
