Dance with your heart

There’s a saying 「There are a thousand Hamlets in a thousand people's eyes.」 and I』d like to say 「There are a thousand black swans in a thousand people's eyes.」 because of Darren Aronofsky’s fabulous movie: Black Swan.

Black Swan is a story about a young ballet dancer who is striving for beauty, acceptance, and most of all, striving for perfection. This impels the opposite sides of loving and hating herself.

In the story, Nina was not particular but a young ballet dancer.She was completely consumed with dance with the strict discipline of her mother. (Some say her mother is just an imagination created by herself, symbolizing her self-discipline.) Chief 湯瑪士 thought Nina was the best for the white swan for her kindness and weakness while Lily was better at the black swan. Nina had to face the dark side of her own, so she built her evil side on Lily, her big competitor, to let her white swan forgave herself. At last, Nina achieved her dream of being the swan queen perfectly. She got all she wanted, the beauty, the acceptance and the most important, herself. She found the perfection.

「Dance with your heart.」 doesn』t only mean you should dance with your emotions, your soul, and your sincerity. In my opinion, it also means dancing with another you in your heart. To accept the other side of yourself, admit it and let it be is what the movie likes to state the most. In everyone’s inner heart, there must be a black swan more or less. They are different, but they have one thing in common: the opposite of yourself. It’s not talking like that we should hold our obsession with it. Nevertheless, when black swans become stronger, we should know how to face them, how to dance with them.
