cowboy, HIV, AZT, homosexual, FDA, alpha interferon--key words after I saw the film. The story could be shortened as followed:

A cowboy diagnosed as HIV-positive patient, recommended to take AZT, which was at that time being experimented and confirmed to be highly dangerous and toxic, if not terminally. On hearing the news he refused to be treated with AZT, turned to an interferon which had not been approved by FDA and finally resorted to smuggling from Japan and other countries where he could access to this kind of non-toxic medical. With the help of a business partner, a homosexual, he founded the 達拉斯 Buyers Club and supplied the members the interferon. However, the smuggling was not that easy and the unapproved medical brought him troubles: confiscation, lawsuit against FDA, continuing the club--all in all helping suffering patients.

What did fascinate me after all? As the title indicates, when someone who fiddles around gets into serious business. He did not mean to save or prolong the life span of the "sentenced". It could have been a sheer coincidence that he ended up playing an influential role in combating the HIV infection or whatever in the similar kind. As is widely said, one coincidence is nothing more than one but coincidences will not happen in a row. It is destiny who leads the role. More importantly, personality decides.

【Don't subject to the treatment】
The diagnose did not bring him down. Research findings and facts told him to stay away from the toxic AZT. He made every effort to have the access to the interferon, not able to cure the disease, not approved by FDA, having side effects either. He lived longer than the doctor said.

【Don't give up easily】
Everything that values is worthy of an effort. Selling interferon in the black market, smuggling from other countries that have the medical, fighting righteously with the FDA--at least for his own life.

【Don't be alone】
Be among people. It was not his intention but a principle to hold on in such a case. HIV patients who would not like to be back with the normal pace to do their jobs, fulfill their tasks, meet their friends--so as to say: they are reluctant to be among the circles before the diagnose. In contrast, Ron did something, he manged to know the interferon, to use and spread it, to establish a club and expand the business. The club came to an end. In the seven years, however, he received respect which was not expected.
Ron's destiny changed him from a typical cowboy to a serious person in the sense that he stood up, took actions, and did something to help himself and a lot others at the end of the story. The story developed nothing more than a commercial film: business-foundation, everything goes fine, and some troubles and conflicts bring about the crisis, financial, personal or even trust. The question is whether he could survive the crisis. It began with the investigation and confiscation of the FDA and ended with the court decision.

【Some words about the court decision】
No more exact recall of every word from the judge. FDA was warned by the court to commit themselves more than keeping the order of the medical and treatment market. What Ron did was not outlawed but should not have been treated severely by FDA in that way. FDA should facilitate every way that help people....Ron was allowed to use the interferon for his own purpose but not to run the club to allocate them. Again it echoes with the core idea of the story: Life outweighs money.

Jared Leto did an awesome job in the film. Without him I could have dropped it halfway. Applause!

An interpretation from an American dream in an atypical way. It is not about the happiness of life with a lovely family, a decent job, a place to live. It is a contradiction of human rights. On one side, they carried out experiments on patients, against the rule of human rights. On the other side, they approve the doses of Ron in a single case, respect of the right to live as a person. Ron had a happy ending in his mother land.

Final conclusion: who used to fool around received appreciation and respect.
